Kbal Spean is referred to as "a spectacularly carved riverbed, established deep during the jungle into the northeast of Angkor".[four] The river above which the bridge head exists is also known as Stung Kbal Spean, a tributary in the Siem Reap River that rises within the Kulein mountains north of Banteay Srei.
